iPad E-Mail Setup

Setting up your iPad for email is simple and detailed below. Please read through the steps first so you know what to expect during the install.

 

  1. If you had already setup your school email, but aren't able to send email from outside the school network, please start by deleting your SMLS mail account. Go to Settings > Passwords & Accounts and tap on the SMLS account. On the next screen, tap delete account.
  2. Go back to your home screen and open Safari and go to https://mail.smls.org. Do not log in. Instead tap on "Integration with device" just below the login prompt. If yours reads "Integration with Mac" instead, then on the next screen scroll to the bottom and tap the link for mobile devices.
  3. Tap on Mail, Contacts, Calendars. On the next screen, tap Continue. You will get a prompt to login. This is your school username, the part in front of @smls.org in your email address, and your school password. Enter those and tap Log In. You will get a prompt stating that "This website is trying to download a configuration profile. Do you want to allow this?" Tap Allow. You will see another prompt stating that the profile downloaded and that you need to review the profile in the settings app if you want to install it. Tap close.
  4. Now go to Settings > General and scroll down and tap Profiles. Tap on the downloaded profile. Tap Install in the upper right. You will be told the authenticity cannot be verified. That's fine. Tap install again in the upper right. Tap Install on the prompt. Tap Done.
  5. Go back to Safari and tap on the back arrow in Safari to go back one page and then tap SSL certificate. You will get a prompt stating that "This website is trying to download a configuration profile. Do you want to allow this?" Tap Allow. You will see another prompt stating that the profile downloaded and that you need to review the profile in the settings app if you want to install it. Tap close.
  6. Now go to Settings > General and scroll down and tap Profiles. Tap on the downloaded profile. Tap Install in the upper right. You will be told the authenticity cannot be verified. That's fine. Tap install again in the upper right. Tap Install on the prompt. Tap Done.

Now open Mail on the iPad and try sending an email to test.
